About Stainless Steel
13/0, 18/0, 18/8 or 18/10 The corrosion and oxidation resistance of
stainless steel increases in relation to chromium content. In better
quality grades of stainless steel, including 18/8 and 18/10, additional
nickel strengthens the oxide film and increases resistance to corrosion.
13/0 is a ‘martensitic’ type of stainless steel and it can be hardened
by heat treatment during the manufacturing process. This makes it ideally
suited for the production of knife blades which is why all our knife
blades are made from 13/0. As 18/0, 18/8 and 18/10 cannot be hardened to
the same degree they are used mostly for handles and other pieces. |
